Luverne, MN School Guide
Luverne enjoys a proud scholastic history dating back over a century to the first home school house founded in 1868 by Philo Hawes. Today, schools in Luverne fall under the jurisdiction of Luverne School District number 2184 and proudly exceed state standards in academic achievement, co-curricular involvement, and communal investment.
Luverne District 2184
Staff and students work collaboratively to overcome challenges and work to achieve academic goals.
District 2 has a long history of academic success, as it was formed in the winter of 1871 and began adding campuses soon after.
In December of 1998, the District’s most recent addition was officially opened to a group of excited elementary students. This allowed all elementary students to learn on one campus rather than adjusting to displacement from older students, allowing for a more solid learning foundation.
In Luverne, quality education is of the utmost priority, and co-curricular offerings are additionally emphasized in order to foster character growth and communal involvement.
As a result of the comprehensive programs offered by Luverne’s three central institutions; student achievement in Luverne is above average and indicative of the faculty and student body’s vibrant communal spirit!
Goals
The general goals of the Luverne School District are to emphasize instruction in core subjects, treat all students with respect, strengthen senses of self and of discipline, and remain sensitive to relationships between students and the community.
This means providing top-notch materials and curriculums in reading, writing, speaking, math, science, and communication; listening to all students about their desires, goals, dreams, and motivations; working to enforce and empower standards for behavior; making considerations and adjustments for diversity in all endeavors; and continually instilling a sense for personal responsibility.
For the Future
It is the belief of both educators and administrators of Luverne School District that there exists no more fundamental or centrifugally important a resource to the future endeavors of a community than the educational success of its children. In order for a collectivized township or city to continue to thrive as Luverne has; its children must mature into solid, life-long learners, conscientiously active in their surrounding community.
